What user profile are you signing on to that AS/400 as for your FTP session? Some shops limit the total DASD that can be used by any given user profile. DSPUSRPRF shows that information -- page down twice and look for:

Storage information: Maximum storage allowed . . . . . . . . : *NOMAX Storage used . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 914336 Storage used on independent ASP . . . . : *NO

To FTP to a save file, normally, I always ensure the save file exists
on
the target system first.

There is a default size on the CRTSAVF command.

You might need to do something like this:

CRTSAVF yourlib/yoursavf SIZE(*NOMAX)
