The message does make some sense because I know what they mean, but what
they should have said is:

STRPCO can only be run from a [session that is running on a] personal
computer.

I run the command from a number CL programs on the AS400.

The specific message IWS4032 may be good enough for my purposes though I 'd
prefer to somehow look at a job description and know not to try the command
to start with.

My intension is to not have any of the PC features available in the job at
user program initiation if the software is called from a dumb terminal.

Thanks for the message number

Steve

Subject: STRPCD and dumb terminals

I don't have any dumb terminals on my 170 so I can't test something.

I would assume if I issue a STRPCO command from a device which is a dumb
that it will fail.

If so, what CPFxxxx or XXXxxxx message number comes up.

also

Is there a way to programmatically know that the device being is a dumb
terminal ?
