Looking for the differences between PC's and dumb terminals you could retrieve the devd and check if it a telnet session or not.

you could call QDCRDEVD with DEVD0600 as the format look thru there for info unique to a local twinax device(like no IP address).

The specific message IWS4032 may be good enough for my purposes though I 'd prefer to somehow look at a job description and know not to try the command to start with.

My intension is to not have any of the PC features available in the job at user program initiation if the software is called from a dumb terminal.
