Thank you for the explanation. I had been counting the characters,
which came
out wrong.

The reply list entry wroks nicely. However, there were two CPA3394
messages
within a few miliseconds of each other lat night. Both were responded
to with
an 'I". But, both messages were for the same device. Does this make
any
sense??

The two messages make sense with a printer that had enough memory to hold
the first print job. The iSeries sent the first and second print job
within such a short time because the memory on the printer could spool
both jobs.

BTW, thanks from me as well to Steve Landess for the help on the ADDRPYLE
command. I had never thought of using the CMPDTA parameter in this
way......
