Mmm... This sounds as "Déjà Vu all over again".

Between 1998-1999 I worked for an IBM BP as an specialist
with AS/400. We were required to train in Netfinity,
RS/6000 and AS/400 systems, as the idea was to give a
complete solution to our customers, regardless of the
platform.

Given today's emphasis in products like Websphere and the
standardization of things like DB2, LAMP technologies,
etc., it seems as a reasonable thing to do.

P.S. Yes, yes, I know nowadays is System i, System P, etc.
Just using the terms as they were at the time :-)
