You can do *PUBLIC *EXCLUDE for the authority on your selected commands.
Then give authority to your selected Users.
How many commands are you looking at?

Is there a way to restrict commands on the i5?
I looked in the archives and most answers seemed to be oriented around
other things.
Yes, I know table restriction would be best and we're working toward that
but in the interim restricting users from using DFU and other commands
would be a good stop-gap.
