Greetings:

Forget SarBox auditors, what happens if your insurance company's risk
management team finds you don't have fire suppression? Even worse, what
happens if they find you have gas-based fire suppression and have humans
working in the room regularly? (No, do NOT assume said humans will always
be conscious or mobile enough to leave the room if the gas system is
triggered!)

I assume you're not publicly held? SarBox auditors would probably not
be happy with lack of fire suppression. Wonder what your casualty
insurance people would say if there was a fire and they found out you
had no fire suppression.

Server rooms shouldn't have a water based fire extinguishers.

Usually a gas based fire extinguishing solution is employed:

Originally this room was just another room in the building. As systems
and servers were brought in over the years it evolved into a computer
room. Our entire office area was supposed to be renovated a couple
months
ago but it got pushed back to the fall. I've seen floor plans for it
but
don't know if any plans were made for fire suppression. My boss was
part
of the renovation committee so I would hope so.
