Thanks is how our Exchange admin set up relaying, only allow from the iSeries 10.* addresses. If you have more than one just be sure they enter them all. -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jim Franz Sent: Tuesday, February 20, 2007 11:41 AM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: Re: sending email to exchange server
If they are, then they need to allow relaying. If not, then to Exchange, it's just like all other e-mail from the outside world. I would have them check the SMTP service on their Exchange server to make sure that they don't limit
what
IPs are allowed to connect."
We will be sending both inside & outside addresses some mail to customers some mail to admin & manager - alerts & status They are a little leary of open unrestricted relay - they were blacklisted for allowing a spammer to take over for a while. I'm hoping Exchange can restrict relay to only from our iSeries "10." private address jim ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Cunningham" <mcunning@xxxxxxx> To: "Midrange Systems Technical Discussion" <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, February 20, 2007 11:25 AM Subject: RE: sending email to exchange server
From our Exchange admin.... "We do allow all of the iSeries IP
addresses
to relay through the Exchange server, but from reading the e-mail I'm not sure if they are trying to send mail through the Exchange server addressed to external e-mail accounts or not. Can telnet to the server from iSeries, port 25 & looks ok. I am assuming he needs to allow the relay from the iSeries, but so far he is not "getting it". jim franz -- This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l. -- This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing
