To configure these printers all I had to do was copy 
an existing 3812 *LAN device description and change 
the address.  To create a *WSCST alone, takes more time 
than that.  I was just wondering why I need to redirect 
trays on a 4250 but don't have to on a 1320 or 4050, for example.

 Are you certain that the printer description you copied didn't have a 
*WSCST attached to it?  If it did, the new printers are using the same 
*WSCST as your original printer.
