Hi PatI'm having a hunt for the documents you suggested but the link was just tot he information centre.
We are pretty comfortable with the SST screens so this part is not an issue for us. We do disk work and recovery work on a very regular basis for plenty of different sites and on varying hardware/OS levels.
You say that unload/reload remains the best way - what is it that makes you recommend that method over the SAVSTG/RSTSTG approach ? We haven't ruled an unload out by any stretch of the imagination, we were just assessing alternatives to replacing a bunch of disks that might save us time or effort.
Thanks for the feedback. Regards Evan Harris At 09:00 a.m. 20/12/2006, you wrote:
In the Hardware Information Center, there is a fairly detailed write-up on "replacing a disk drive" and all that is required. http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/eserver/v1r3s/index.jsp If you plan to replace them all, a load/unload will be the simple way to go. If you feel "VERY" comfortable working in the service screens, you can do a "gig-mig" which is the customer engineer method of replacing a drive. You must feel very confident while in SST options to do this. The load/unload remains the best way.
