Until somebody shows me something better for random record retrieval, yes.
I also seem to recall a statement by the esteemed Jim Sloan saying that in
many cases, FMTDTA can be faster and more powerful than ONPQRYF.

It all boils down to using the right tool for the job. I can drive a nail
with a tire iron, but I'd rather use a hammer. I guess it's my advanced
   age

"always" ... So, if you are going for a single record retrieval,
and/or update, CHAINing is always faster. Is CHAINing always BETTER? Is
this going to be the case into the future?

So, we should always have embedded SQL for multi-record access, and F
specs for single record access and update. Right?

IMO, there will always be cases where green screen will always be
     faster
       for quickie changes and recompiles.
I still haven't seen WDSC run on a hand held device, but I have seen
someone modify and recompile a program using the keyboard of a Treo.

And CHAIN will always be faster than SQL for single record access.
