And BTW, I'm not sure why my e-mails wrap funny sometime... You can
decipher the commands, but it looked a lot nicer when I pasted it in and
hit send.

Subject: V5R3 to V5R4 - upgrade in review

All,

Having performed the 3rd V5R4 upgrade here this weekend (only 6 or 7 to
go...), I can say with confidence that V5R3 to V5R4 is the best OS
upgrade I've ever had the pleasure of performing. Granted, I've only
been doing it since V4R3, so I can't reminisce about how awesome V2R1
was. ;)

Been using image catalogs. Here's a little cheat-sheet o' commands if
anyone's interested. YMMV, but it certainly has some helpful commands
that are easier to cut-and paste. My IFS directory of the media looks
like the item below. Also - I used the IBM .bin files and made my own
.iso, interchangable as you can see in the file names. With the image
catalogs the upgrade itself including PTFs on decent LPARs is only
taking 1.5-2 hours. This is a 4-way 570 POWER5+ with 48 GB of RAM, so
yours might vary depending on system. Also, the LPAR with 6 arms took
about twice as long as the one with 45.
