Aaron,Something ain't right! In an earlier post there seemed to be some confusion about what console was shipped with your i5. Concentrate on getting the console configured first. If you have the console configured correctly the thing should just boot and then you can sign on. As Yan says on "Yan can cook".....it SO simple.
Problem seems to be with console. I prefer the twinax version since it is bullet proof (at least to this geezer). Cable the thing up, set the address switches to 0,0 and then throw the big switch!
What is the console type you were using? Pete Helgren albartell wrote:
I am still trying to get my brand new System i5 to boot for the first time. Is there a way for me to find what IP address it has assigned itself? Through the random pushing of buttons on the control panel display I found it once, but that was a couple of boot attempts ago and I am trying to figure out how to get back into there.p.s. Initial setup of a System i5 is turning out to be a real drag. GrantedI am a programmer trying to do it and not a sysadmin, but if IBM is trying to get new sales out there to non-IBM shops then they are currently failing on my scale of ease-of-use.Thanks,Aaron Bartell
