Because I have a big i5 with lots of extra CPW that I can create a Linux partition and run my VoIP. Then the iSeries is free. The Linux OS is cheap for the i5 partition. So all I need is the 3Com software and modules to the PSTN, Lots of time to install and configure. Not that this is our scenario. As someone w/both VoIP deployed internally and working w/customers w/VoIP I've got to say I don't see ANY REASON you'd want to run your VoIP infrastructure off an iSeries. Sorry, but I just don't see a reason (other than, because I can). Integrate w/VoIP, sure, like CallPath/400, but have the iSeries as the core of your VoIP system, why?
