In that case just use:

CPYF FROMFILE(VV) TOFILE(BB) INCCHAR(*RCD 1 *NE 'D')

(Note the *RCD parm)

I wonder if you could do it backwards? Select the records you want to
*keep*, then use CPYFRMOQRYF to copy those records to a temp file, then CPYF
the temp file records with MBROPT(*REPLACE) back to the original file.

Hi,

My remembrance is that OPNQRYF only reports, and does not update/delete
data, but I could be wrong.

Hi!

I would like to know if it is possible to delete records from a file
with
the command OPNQRYF only if the first char of the record is equal to
'D'. I
don't know the name of the field at that position when I use the command
in
my CLP... Something like:

If (%subst(Record:1:1) = 'D')
    Delete Record

directly in a OPNQRYF command...

Thanks in advance for your answers
Charles
