   virtual name (QPADEVxxxxx) to s/36 WSID (W1, W2, etc) are stored


I don't know where they are stored, but IBM does have a simple program for
converting device names in either direction.  See the documentation on
QEXCVTDV which is in the appendix of the S/36 Environment Reference manual.
