    I don't know of any API.  My understand is that an entry is added to
    that
    *S36 object for each device
    as it is created.  I tested this by creating a new virtual display
    device
    XDEVICE on my development box.
    An entry was added and appeared with its S/36 WSID alias already
    assigned
    immediate when
    I ran the DSP36 command.
