Welllll elmer. I stand corrected. The bugger is NOT in iNav. I'll have to bring that up next time I ratlle some cages up there.

You are left with CHGSNMPA. To end the thing ENDTCPSVR *SNMP. You can savely end the bugger.

For SMTP (Mail) you can end it if your System i doesn't send or receive any mail. (Note that DOMINO doesn't count, most folks use the Domino SMTP job not tie i5/OS one.)

Be careful. Be VERY careful.

SMTP = Simple Mail Transport Protocol
SNMP = Simple Network Management Protocol.

So close in acronym, so far in function. If you look closely in QSYSWRK you can see jobs for both SMTP (Mail) and SNMP (network). They are definately two different servers. They also show up as such in iNav.

Ok, Larry, I'll be vewy, vewy careful.

So, as to the SMTP server, you I need that puppy running if we're not using the i5 for email? Does it serve any other function for me?

And, as regards the SNMP server, I see it (I think) under QSYSWRK, when I use WRKACTJOB, as QSNMPSA.and in iNav's Active jobs. But I do not see it in Inav's Network..Servers..TCP/IP, though there is a SNTP server running. But I surmise from your cautionary note that I should just keep my paws off of the SNMP server if I ever do find it.
