TrevorI tried to send a fairly neutral response to your previous email in order to try and avoid a repeat of the green vs gui debate.
In that, you were determined to have a fixed viewpoint. Is history repeating itself?

Rob,Why would we bother?
You don't have to. I didn't start this thread but responded to G4
I have the advantage of not being trained as programmer and, having been finance director, and then CEO, of 45 companies spread all over the world and in many types of business, I like to think that I am able to switch off my programming mode from time to time.We cannot get a green vs. gui debate "right".SOA is Architecture that is the best practices of the approaches we have tried to date. It is being worked on by brilliant minds and thought leaders who have a much better view of business than is reflected inside these programmer walls.
I am sorry that you think that there are no brilliant minds in these forums. My impression was that at least some were quite bright and that some were thought leaders in the iSeries community. Am I wrong? Or have you just insulted them? How many of them have you met?
Maybe you are aware simply of the acronym? Maybe you heard if from one of the bandwagon riders? If you have ever heard it called SOwA, then you are probably also unaware of the truth of SOA.SOA may be brilliant but to me it seems to have unnecessary complexity although I freely admit that I haven't studied it in detail. It may be the best way but we will only know that by trying to discuss the various existing and possibly new methods with an open mind. If everyone knew all the answers, then this thread would not have started.
I suggest we review how SOA fits the System i world - a far more productive debate than attempting to reinvent the wheel, the automobile, the house, public transport, kitchen appliances, and IT architecture. The orignal wheel didn't have bearings or tyres. These were later improvements. Not all methods of transport today use wheels. Are you suggesting that SOA is the answer for all time? If so, then go and start your own thread on SOA. I wonder why you haven't done it before if you are so sure of your ground.
Best wishes Rob
