Likewise Jim. I think I was second to last and I even mentioned"Getting on with it and getting of this name stuff". I then was cut offon my own statements/questions that had to do with IBM partnering andopen source VAE's, and getting the System i and tools in front of ayounger audience....

I talked to Pete Massiello at the MOM and I think next Common they planto have a visible clock running and that the moderator will have somecontrol of the microphone (like on and off...).

Actually I was OK with the sounding off and even the naming rants wouldhave been OK if IBM hadn't addressed it. However, given the fact thatElaine Lennox did such a thorough job of 1. Apologizing 2. Explainingthe rationale and 3. identifying future plans, she rendered most of theremaining discussion moot. I would have enjoyed more analysis of thoseplans and feedback on whether the approach was sound or not. Instead itseemed like everyone just wanted to let IBM know they were unhappy withthe "marquee style" naming Merry-Go-Round we've been on even though theentire panel said they didn't like the name change routine either.


C'est la vie!  The fall Common town meeting will be better (!)

to express your opinions to IBM. If you sit on the sidelines - or leave -

There was a lot more going on at Common than just the Town Hall meeting.
I would agree the open mike period had a few good points made within
an extreme amount of repetitive blathering. Many in the hall were
disgusted
with our side of the meeting.
I did get a lot of value from this Common, and found IBMer's more
than willing to discuss a variety of issues, technical as well as
marketing
and
future directions. I've been to a dozen or so conferences & this was just
as
good
or better than previous. The facilities in Minneapolis were great.
