Look at the Backup and Recovery Guide V5R3 -- Chapter 14 Release-to-Release
Support

The section on Previous Release -to-Current Release Support contains a
checklist
that we use for all of our "box swap" RISC migrations now.

As long as their is an upgrade path from the OS level on your old server
to the OS level on the new server, the checklist in this section will work
(at least it has for me).

I was referred to this checklist by IBM SupportLine during one of our early
RISC upgrades
where I was upgrading the old server before a full save and then restore on
the new server.
This checklist shortens the process quite a bit.

Things to watch are the restore of configuration objects that don't match
resources on
the new server.  These have to be corrected.
