A very common technique is to store some files into a save file. Then when a fresh copy of the contents is needed in QTEMP or some such animal then they are restored out of that save file. If you are doing logicals and all it's not a bad technique. However, I think that if you set up the security right on the files before saving them into the save file you shouldn't need the special authority. Sometimes you run into cross application. You know, save some stuff from vendor package A and restore it into the file library for vendor package B. However, that's a job for adopted authority. Rob Berendt
