SNA Dial up to the ECS from our local AS400. STRPASTHR. Dial up with analog phone line work no matter what the LAN is doing. Now if you loose all Telco at the remote site do to some cable cut, you call your local travel agent or sit it out and keep trying to dial. My new challenge is to get this working on a new 520 that has yet to be delivered. I will need to get a dial up connection to it's internal modem which does not do SNA. I love change/challenges. I would like you to consider as part of your DRP plan the following; will there be a way to get in as a console operator? If there is a network error, either the network itself or if the Ethernet line on the remote iSeries is down, how would you get to the machine to answer any messages, investigate etc?
