First of all with a 7 drive raid set, the striping goes on to 4 of the
drives, not all 7. Drive as actually partitioned under the covers to
hold the stripes thus the lower GB rating. All is fine on that raid
set, don't worry. Now you can NOT add a different sized drive to an
existing raid set. Looking at your config, I would add one more 4326 to
balance out your raid set to 8 drives, a more efficient configuration
than 7 drives. I would then add 4 of the 4327's so you can build a
raid5 set.

Note that you may have to end your raid and re-build the raid set with
the new drive to balance the striping across all 8 drives.

Subject: Mixing Disk Drives?

I've got a couple of questions regarding the disks in my 520.

First, I've got 7-4326 (35gb) drives installed all into one ASP and it
is
running RAID-5. The first 4 show their size in WRKDSKSTS as 26373, the
next
3 show 35165, is this correct, or does it mean something's not
configured
correctly?

Second, I've just realized that our disk usage requirements are growing
much
faster than originally anticipated. I am looking at buying a couple of
4327
(70gb) disk drives. Will I be able to add these into the system as-is?
Or,
will I need to make some changes? Can I get by with just adding 1, or
will I
have to add 2 or more?
