It sounds like you may be using Exchange 5.5... can you confirm if you are 
upgrading the Exchange Server software as well as doing the move? What version 
are you running?

I am contemplating moving Exchange from an old Intel box that has space 
limitations to the unused integrated server in my model 800.  Exchange is 
performing poorly presently due to the old box and and increased number of 
users.
 
Has anyone done this?  Good idea or bad?  If I do it, can I also install GFI 
Mail Essentials on that server?  
 
I hope to gain performance and consolidate the backup.  However, it seems to me 
that if I have to recover anything in Exchange I may be limited to restoring 
all or nothing.
