That's what i'm wondering... a software IPL didn't do it for us. Rochester
support directed us to completely power down and actually disconnect from
the UPS to force a full FSP reset. Not sure if Jeff has done that.

I assume in the IPL you mean a IPL that includes hardware, not just
a software IPL?

Ok, part A sounds like things just aren't working. (The fact that you
never got the initial message during IPL to say the cable was attached is
probably showing that also.)
With part B you're either misreading what they've got written, or it's
documented wrong.
I'm not trying to be a hardcase either... i'm just worried that if you're
unplugging/plugging the signal cable in and not getting any recognition
you've got a nonfunctional setup.
I'm SURE that with what sounds like an identical setup, we can
remove/reattach the cable and the system will recognize that and spit out
the CPI* messages pretty much instantly.
I'm surprised that Larry Bolhuis or one of the more hardware related gurus
haven't chimed in... they've probably dealt with this on many machines!

No, that's my point. I can plug and unplug to my heart's content and the
system doesn't know. I did it again this morning just to prove it to
myself.
Not trying to be a hardcase, but again:
> > IF THE CABLE IS REMOVED DURING RUN TIME, THE SYSTEM WILL

If I read that correctly, it is "working as designed". That is, the system
not recognizing the UPS is attached/not is the expected behavior.
So 2 months from now, how do I know the system thinks it's attached?
I could set up a data area or anything I wanted to 'record' that it was
attached at some point in time, but that really means nothing. It needs to
be realtime.
