I did some look up on this... This section is discussing the SNA Open Gateway Architecture, which provided a mechanism for accommodating SNA Gateways on a TCP/IP network using the MS Distributed Link Service. The last paragraph that started this topic refers to customers who are still isolating their host systems on private network segment. In that scenario a multihomed HIS Server can allow a remote HIS Server to use one of its distributed link services on the private network. This is not a discussion of why a customer would isolate their host systems. It simply refers to a practice that was common 6 years ago. This can be accomplished by utilizing one of the three (3) Microsoft data providers for DB2. So based on that page, you could say that if you run MS servers you don't have a need for reliable & secure access to them...or that you have no mission-critical operations. Looks like the content was not reviewed by the marketing group. ----- Original Message ----- From: Colin Williams <mailto:colinwilliams007@xxxxxxxxx> To: Midrange Systems Technical <mailto:midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Discussion Sent: Wednesday, February 15, 2006 9:56 AM Subject: Re: MS Tech Note Are they implying that there is a problem running TCP/IP on as400s and mainframes? > > ( <http://tinyurl.com/ajr6h <http://tinyurl.com/ajr6h> > http://tinyurl.com/ajr6h <http://tinyurl.com/ajr6h> )
