I was going to mention that as well. VNC works great in that environment and it is "native" in the sense that PASE is a native runtime environment for AIX (vs and AIX partition). We use it all the time and have installed editing tools, browsers and other AIX GUI apps.
That's exactly the problem with VNC on the iSeries -- it's NOT native. If you want a GUI application to run in VNC on the iSeries, you have to write an AIX application to run under PASE.
You can't simply make X API calls to write GUI screens from your RPG or CL programs. You have to write AIX progams. (That's not exactly true, you could potentially use APIs to load the AIX modules and call them, but it'd get very ugly...)
Consequently, the existing VNC support, while interesting, does very little for the vast bulk of iSeries software.
