Thanks for the info. I had seen VNC on a Linux partition but not native OS/400. I see its for v5r1 and up so I can't install it on my home system (v4r5) but maybe next week I'll try it on my clients development system. -- Doug Hart -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Urbanek, Marty Sent: Thursday, February 02, 2006 12:46 PM To: midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: Say Hello to IBM System i5! Funny you should mention that, Doug, as I just did. There's a VNC server in the "Portability Tools" PRPQ, 5799-PTL, which can be downloaded for free from IBM. I don't have a link handy but just do a Google. You might check it out when you have some time. -Marty ------------------------------ date: Thu, 2 Feb 2006 12:05:13 -0500 from: "Doug Hart" <DougHart@xxxxxxxxxxxx> subject: It can be argued that the System i5 still can't do GUI even with HATS , etc.. We still need a GUI enabled client (OS) to display a graphic interface. When I can do a native VNC connect to the system and see GUI then it's there. As for the 5250 "killing" the system that depends on the application. -- Doug Hart
