Upgrades are easy and not a problem...it is IE only sites, or sites that haven't bothered to test the site under any other browser that I find irritating, especially when the company's site is promoting open source technologies.

Am I surprised some of Microsoft web pages require IE in order to be viewed properly? No. But I find it interesting that a company like IBM that is promoting the use of alternatives to proprietary technologies (like IE) has any areas that require IE to be viewed properly. This isn't a huge thing and I suppose that IBM, with hundreds of thousands of web pages, is doing it's best to make them cross browser friendly, but still, it IS irritating, at least to me.

A big point to consider is that some people, using FF had no problem with that site. They just used a newer version of FF. Is it really such a PITA to upgrade your browser? Or is there some business decision to remain at ancient versions of the browser in order to test any website you design that it is compatible with old versions of FF? Are there really "users", and not web developers, that use something like FF and refuse to upgrade to a newer version of FF?
