We are running IIS ftp server on Win2k here.  I don't see what you are
seeing unless I enter the commands to do so.  It's possible their FTP server
is simply configured to work that way.  If the problem is you are entering
commands and not seeing the results then check for port restrictions.  FTP
communication uses one port for commands and another for data.  The dir
command is considered the same as receiving a file.

sounds like it could be the brand of ftp on the server.

your transfer starting/complete might just be some handshaking.  will it let
you enter commands after this?
