AntonioMost of the information should be in the Software Installation books (or at InfoCenter). There are specific steps to take if you are using image catalogs, versus using physical media. Go throgh the directions step by step and mark them. But here goes with what I know from memory--
Create one image catalog for this purpose and create entries from each of the media into the image catalog. An image catalog itself is a single directory - each entry is a file in the directory.
Run the function key that verifies the image catalog, and tell it to sort things in the right order on the command prompt you will see.
As for how to do the automatic installation, look for the Software Installation manual - it used to be in 2 parts and came with the new release. If it did not, go to InfoCenter - there's a separate one for Europe, I think - and look in the software installation area. I went through www.iseries.ibm.com/infocenter, chose Europe, then the Espanol section, then to the software area "OS/400 y software relicianado". I opened "Instalar, actualizar,...", then "Install, upgrade, or delete...", then "Upgrade or replace...", then "Upgrade or replace software using automatic installation", then "Before you begin...', which is this link-- http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r3/ic2931/index.htm
where there is a link at the bottom for what you want to do. HTH Vern At 07:22 AM 9/27/2005, you wrote:
This will be the first time I use Image Catalogs. Have already installed SI10563 and other PTF's in present V5R2 My question is: - Have multiple Optical media: I_Base_01 1 B2931_ww 2 B29MM_xx 2 D2931_yy 6 L2931_zz 2 plus PTF's : Cumulative, DB Group, Hiper, ... 1- How should all these be properly organized? I mean, different Image Catalogs in one single Directory? Single Image Catalog using different Directories? (ADDIMGCLGE ?) etc. 2- In any case, how do you "operate" ...? - to start automatic installation - with intermediate IPL's? - to install Cumulative, plus DB and Hiper GroupsHave not been able to find answers to these questions, neither through official documentation, nor thru Midrange archives...Any suggestions will be appreciated.
