Upgrading V5R2 to V5R3 using Image Catalogs

This will be the first time I use Image Catalogs.
Have already installed SI10563 and other PTF's in present V5R2
My question is:
- Have multiple Optical media:

   I_Base_01        1
   B2931_ww       2
   B29MM_xx      2
   D2931_yy         6
   L2931_zz          2

plus PTF's : Cumulative, DB Group, Hiper, ...

1- How should all these be properly organized?
   I mean, different Image Catalogs in one single Directory?
   Single Image Catalog  using different Directories? (ADDIMGCLGE ?)
   etc.

2- In any case, how do you "operate" ...?
   - to start automatic installation
   - with intermediate IPL's?
   - to install Cumulative, plus DB and Hiper Groups
Have not been able to find answers to these questions, neither through official documentation, nor thru Midrange archives... 
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
