Another thought.

You can stick a backup tape in the tape drive then SBMJOB a DSPTAP ... you might want to select a JOBQ that is not going to be eating a lot of resources, because this may take a while. When you are done, you have data that can be analysed, to compare what's on different backups vs. what's supposed to be there, and what's on disk, and compare one backup to another backup in terms of contents. Before you do your first DSPTAP you might want to F4 F1 study what the various parameters supposed to do, so you collect info that will be helpful.

We recently had to do this to access configuration objects info on backup from before the move, because it was a non-trivial task at a place that does not believe in documenting its connections. Thank God for all the work auto config does.
