My little point is, that you drag RPG into the discussion, while you offer an 
alternative with JDBC (using SQL) and the requestor tried to do it using 
SQL/400. And using embedded SQL in a HLL it should be possible as well, as long 
as the CONNECT TO functions.

The link I gave may help the requestor and others who try to solve this 
problem. It is a solution, perhaps the only one, java based. But to use two 
JDBC drivers to connect two different databases, as in this tip, would be a 
temporary solution for me.

It doesnot mean I disregard java solutions.
