Oh, sorry - yes the disk is in the system. At least it was the last time I
was there. That's why I was wondering if it was a "stiction" issue as I
noted originally ?

I think Scott and I are asking the same question regarding whether the 
disk described in the error is actually still in the system.

If you IPL from tape, you should be able load the system on whatever 
disk is actually installed.  DST can show you the serial#s and status of 
   the disks.
