We never looked at open source the the simple reason we needed to make sure 
that the system stayed up 24/7 and if there was a problem I would need 
immediate assistance.

It just was not an option for me.  We evaluated about 10 different systems 
and it really cam down to NEC and Avaya in the end.

I would agree that you cannot skimp on the phone themselves, but even more 
important for us was reliability on the backend.  We operate 24/7 and cannot 
afford even 10 minutes of down time.
