More than 10 years ago we chose Aldon over Soft Landing. I don't
remember the reasons at this point in time...
As far as Aldon wanting you to have them on-site, I'd say it's a good
idea. There's a lot of detail in setting up the system the first
time. Don't let them set it up, let them train you as you push the
buttons. Once you have the initial setup under your belt, you'll be
able to handle the ongoing configuration.
Aldon is an extremely flexible package-- you can set up multiple
layers from development to production, and multiple paths so you can
handle new versions of your software-- and all at once. It works!
