Did Aldon perform the setup or did you? How long did it take?

Donald - The question above is a "loaded" one...

I did a scratch ACMS setup for a client of mine in Austin back in the 90's.

It really depends on whether you intend to assimilate all vendor code and objects into Aldon (not recommended) or not. The alternative is to lock down the vendor's pristine code, only bringing custom code and modified vendor code into ACMS.

We had an Aldon instructor on-site for approximately one week, training all of us on the setup and use of ACMS. The instructor helped us get started on getting everything ready, including advice on best practices for setup, initial load, and ongoing use of the system.

After the training session, we did everything...

We went through a thorough analysis of ALL source and objects, which included recompiling EVERYTHING from the source code (both vendor's and custom) in order to establish baseline source-object integrity, then added every object (approximately 6000 of them), whether source-based or not, to ACMS.

We iteratively ran their "Verify" report to identify objects with integrity problems, fixing the problems one-by-one, until the report was completely clean. In total, it took us around three months to achieve complete source-object integrity on the system.

If you go the other route, which is to only bring the custom code and modified vendor code into ACMS, depending on the number of source members and objects, you should be able to do it in less than a month, if you don't mind having some source-object integrity problems reported by the Verify report.

Steve
