The iSeries isn't like a PC, you don't have to reboot it regularly; if that's 
what you are asking.

Assuming your system is kept up to on PTFs, the IPLs required for PTF 
application should be plenty.  That might be monthly, quarterly, even yearly I 
suppose.

If you aren't keeping up to date on PTFs, I think IBM recommends at least a 
yearly IPL.  But you'll find plenty of stories on about 400s that haven't been 
IPL'd in many years.
