I think it's a crock... just like I think the "if it's not broken don't fix it" is a crock. There is far more danger to an application on a release upgrade, where function really can change (like the cpyfromimpf change in V5R3..). Not patching an OS is to ignore the reality that every OS has bugs that need to be fixed. IBM has fixed some very serious problems in every release. Just because it has not yet affected your client does not mean they are safe.
