Hmmm... it appears that in addition to dropping some characters, the FTP
client is getting out of sync with the server. Possibly, some characters
are being added.

This 500 does not appear to be the response to the PORT subcommand that
was sent before it, but a response to something else. Possibly an extra
CRLF was inserted by the Hotel's router prior to the 'PORT'.

Since the client didn't know that the extra CRLF was added, it thinks the
error message that it generated was from the PORT command even though it
wasn't.

Now you get the response to the PORT subcommand -- so it's one line out of
sync with the FTP client.

Presumably, this is the response to the STOR command. Then, of course,
the client closes the socket so if there was another response, you won't
see it.

I'd say that either something is seriously messed up with the hotel
(possibly they've got a buggy NAT implementation) or there's a hacker
that's trying to intercept what you're doing, and his program is buggy.

All I can suggest is to try a different ISP :)
