> As you can see when I request "ls" I get a message saying that subcommand ST > is not valid. What subcommand? When you type 'ls' on your end, the computer actually sends the word 'LIST' to the FTP server. It appears that somehow the 'LI' is getting chopped off, and that's confusing the server. You can type 'debug' at your ftp> prompt to tell the FTP client that you want to see the data that it's transmitting to the server. Maybe that'll help you pinpoint the problem. > > Could it be the hotel's internet connection causing this? > That's possible -- but it seems unlikely, since each TCP packet has a checksum associated with it which would fail at the other end. I suppose the hotel's internet connection could be re-calculating that checksum -- but I can't imagine why they'd do this deliberately. It could also mean that the FTP program on your PC has gotten corrupted somehow. You might try using a different client to see if that solves the problem. (for example, use Internet Explorer's built-in support for FTP -- although, sadly, this doesn't work very well with the iSeries, but it might be enough to determine where the problem lies.)
