Dave how much time did you put into the planning to make it happen?
We didn't have much of a problem at all installing an LPAR about a year ago and have not had any problems to speak of in managing it. Our system is an 835 which is also not very old. We also have "blade" servers running Windows 2K to serve as the place where applications run that have a natural affinity and connections with an application running on their associated LPAR. I use one LPAR for production and one for Test.
We paid an IBM CE to do the job and it didn't take but about a day or less.
If you need a lot of technical info I'll have to put you in touch with our Systems Programmer.
Take care,
