Re: Going LPAR

In addition to what everybody else said:

- Having only one serial number simplifies paperwork for software ordering, 
support services, etc.

- I like being able to move memory & CPU around to give various partitions a 
boost. Sometimes you have to IPL, though, at least with V5R2.

- Having a primary partition (pre-HMC) gives you remote control panel 
functionality for the secondary partitions as long as you can remotely access 
the primary. My understanding is that theoretically an HMC would do this, too, 
if it were as stable as my primary partition and had some remote access 
software on it.
