I am not an expert at either graphics printing or pdf's so there may much more to take a look at, but I believe the use of overlays on your printfiles can add graphics of the sort you speak of: Gridlines, shading, logos, etc. You could probably do some searching or the folks on the RPG list may be able to fill in the blanks. It is definitely possible, you just need the right approach.
