> And the win32 API, well, I worked with Windows APIs for years, and I've > never seen a worse API. But that's just my judgment. I have. Anybody remember the one that (I think) was called "Win32s"? Microschlong put it out there while Lose95 was still in development, inviting developers to write to it, but cautioning them that it was temporary. Then when Lose95 came out, the other shoe dropped, and we saw just how much of Win32s was temporary, and just how temporary it was: NOTHING that ANYBODY wrote to it was any good any more, and EVERYBODY who wrote ANYTHING to it learned that they'd just wasted hundreds of dollars on useless development tools, and spent several months engaged in a self-indulgent act that probably ought not be mentioned on a family list server (but think about Reverend Johnson, in Blazing Saddles: "Oh Lord. Do we have the strength to carry on this mighty task in one night? Or are we just . . .") -- JHHL
