Funny, I thought it was the ability of an RPG program to ride through an entire file on "The Cycle" (speaking of cyccles, did anybody see last night's Angels game?), or to make other, less conventional uses of "The Cycle" (which I do with some regularity) that made RPG a good language (no, not "very good"). Go with the STRENGTHS of a language. Speaking of which, the STRENGTH of Java is that it ISN'T TIED TO ONE PLATFORM, and DOESN'T NEED TO BE RECOMPILED FOR DIFFERENT PLATFORMS. (Anybody else still regularly move AS/400 *PGM objects back and forth between CISC and RISC boxes?) -- JHHL
