In my experience, and of course YMMV, removing disks from service using the process you describe is very time consuming. Especially when you have to do it in groups of disks as you can't remove all of them at once. I've found it much easier and faster to just do a GO SAVE/21, replace all the disks, add to the ASP, restart parity, and then GO RESTORE/21 (basically following the Backup & Recovery book). If you're still committed to the process of replacing disks in groups, pretty much everything is in the disk section in SST/DST.
