Are the drive the same except for IBM/non-IBM?  Put differently . . .
does the system think they are the same drives?

If yes, then why not replace them one, perhaps one a day, allowing the
system to do the work for you?  There is a risk, but I would wager no
less than other methods.

Just a thought.
